Actually, water detectors exist

In the “Tales from the Front Line” section of the July 14 "Salvage your Home, Save the Planet" insert, I couldn’t help but notice a comment regarding water detection equipment. The author notes that “sadly, there’s no such thing as a water detector.” Actually, there are.
 
Crutchfield carries a line of home monitoring systems that are capable of detecting water leaks and notifying home owners remotely in case of an incident.
