Snap: Getting ready for banking parade
Wells Fargo officially celebrated its renaming of the former Wachovia banks in Charlottesville on August 9 with a little parade on the Downtown Mall and some speeches touting about $80,000 in donations to local charities including the United Way, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, and Habitat for Humanity. Wachovia was a North Carolina-based banking powerhouse that had then UVA President John Casteen on its board. But it was sold amid the 2008 panic.
