Snap: After soaking, Wintergreen gleams

After a band of morning rain showers moved through Central Virginia, the sun broke through to illuminate the slopes of Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County Friday morning. As this view from downtown Charlottesville shows, there is expert skiing at Wintergreen's Highlands section if you ski the following slopes: Upper Cliffhanger and Lower Devil's Elbow. With this season's warm weather, Upper Wild Turkey and Outer Limits can be seen here to the right of the white as barren swaths of brown grass. Wintergreen is currently operating four lifts and 12 slopes with January 27 morning temperatures in the mid-40s.

This weather must be a nightmare for Wintergreen . Spring skiing is one thing but today is like summer.
