Attention shoppers: Wal-Mart evacuated due to bomb threat?

Police evacuated the Wal-Mart store on Route 29 today following the discovery of some "suspicious" packages being carried by a white male. Police are asking that people stay away from the store as they investigate. Details to follow.

12:24: bomb sniffing dogs are on the scene, man has been detained, but still no word about what was in the packages.

1:45: the man was apparently wearing camouflage and a helmet, though some reports say it was a gas mask. Virginia State Police are currently assisting in the investigation.

2:30: It's like post office! It's now being reported that the man was wearing a motorcycle helmet, not a gas mask. Important little detail.

3:50: State police have sent a bomb robot into the store to inspect one of the packages. Also, PetSmart in Hollymead Town Center was evacuated for a short time after an employee suspected the suspect might have been there earlier in the day. Police dogs swept the store but nothing was found.

8/6: Police have not offered details about what was in the packages, but confirmed that there were no explosives. People were allowed to re-enter the store a little before 4pm on Friday. The motorcycle helmet-wearing man is being evaluated by mental health professionals.

The first time I was going to take the "5" bus, and they say "walmart is still on lockdown due to the bomb threat earlier in the day".
