Wertland blaze: No injuries in morning house fire

There are no reported injuries from an early morning blaze at 1256 Wertland Street. According to Charlottesville Fire Chief Charles Werner, the fire was reported at 5:11am on Monday, January 21, and firefighters arrived to find the front porch of the two-story brick structure engulfed in flames. All occupants were able to escape unharmed, and ionization-type smoke detectors present in the house did sound, according to Werner. Investigators have located the point of origin on the porch, but have not yet identified the source of ignition.
