A butcher knife, dog collar, and nylon restraints were found in his car. Beaulieu could face life in prison and will be sentenced August 7.

Biggest supporter of the U.S. Supreme Court's DNA decision: Albemarle Sheriff Chip Harding, who was instrumental in getting Virginia's DNA databank off the ground, applauds SOTUS' okay of taking cheek swabs of felony suspects' DNA— and would like to see swabs taken from those arrested for misdemeanors.

Latest unreported income for the McDonnells: First lady Maureen McDonnell picked up $36,000 in consulting for the coal-funded Frances G. and James W. McGlothlin Foundation. Her husband, Governor Bob McDonnell, had reported her position with the charity as a paid trustee, income from which does not have to be reported under state law, but James McGlothlin says she was never named to the board. Another businessman friend of the McDonnells contributed $15,000 to their daughter's 2011 catering bill for her wedding, which also doesn't have to be reported under Virginia law. The Washington Post has the story.
