Chefs in the garden at Clifton

Over at the Clifton Inn they're gearing up for another Chefs in the Garden event, and this time chef Tucker Yoder welcomes an all-star line-up of local talent, including Clifton alum and current owner of Brookville Harrison Keevil, Christian Kelly from Maya, and Angelo Vangelopoulos from The Ivy Inn. As you might know, the dinner is served in the garden in the back of the restaurant, communal dining-style, and each of these chefs focus heavily on sourcing local food. You'll get eight courses with optional wine pairings, plus hors d’oeuvres at 6pm before the feast begins at 7pm. Cost is $88 per person and $150 per person with the wine pairings. Make your reservation by calling 434-971-1800.

Also, in October, as part of National Apple Month, the Inn is offering a special An Apple a Day Package, complete with an apple picking venture to Carter Mountain Orchard, apple danish pastries in the morning if you choose to stay overnight, apple-type gifts, and a four-course apple tasting menu, which will include such things as apple and fall squash risotto with pumpkin seeds, maple gastrique, sage and brown butter along with seared striped bass with smoked Albemarle apple, creamed cabbage and pork jus. The package is available Sunday through Thursday nights all through October and costs $465.
