As this 7:49am photo of the intersection of 9th and East Market Streets attests, the snow coming down on the morning of Friday, January 28 is actually falling a bit faster than the more-heavily anticipated January 26 snowfall. Because this morning's snowfall was not widely predicted, both Albemarle and Charlottesville public school systems are operating as usual.

The Wednesday snowfall brought an average of two inches to our area, though the official measurement at UVA's McCormick Observatory was 3.4 inches.

In other chilly news, shortly after 6am today, a person was transported to a hospital for symptoms of cold/exposure from the Meadows affordable housing complex near Crozet.

The National Weather Service predicts just an inch of accumulation and a high temperature today of 43. If that's right and if this morning traffic keeps the snow from accumulating on roads, then there's no reason not to head off to Wintergreen, Massanutten, Snowshoe, or some other winter wonderland in your own back yard.
