Allen's run? Former Earlysville resident mulls race for U.S. Senate

news-georgeallen-triptychCan George Allen return to politics?

George Allen, the brash conservative who retired from politics four years ago after an election defeat that followed a series of gaffes including the infamous "macaca" incident, appears to be mulling a return to the U.S. Senate. The Washington Post finds that the UVA graduate and longtime Earlysville resident still has plenty of fire, but that his quest to unseat the man who unseated him, Jim Webb, has already begun rocking some Republican boats.

@ jeezlouise

health care premiums are up 135% in the last 10 years (at a time when inflation rose only 30%. guess who was president during most of that time? el generalissimo Bush. so explain that one genius.

but I am sure you tinfoil hat wearing wingnuts are going to blame Obamacare on that too. or maybe it was hillarycare? or medicare? or al Qaeda? or 9/11?

actually studies of the issue, as opposed to the ignorant rantings of the spit fleckled tea baggers, attributes perhaps 3-5% of the hike to the health care bill as opposed to corporate greed.

and probably the biggest reason for premium hikes is the age of America's workforce and the continuing demand to be treated and tested on demand for everything.

you cant really be that ignorant can you?

turn off Faux. Pick up a newspaper.

seriously.

You tell'em HarryD.
I am glad they made him give that Heismann back!!!!

Wog- I think he ended "don't look, don't smell" didn't he?

Gas prices going up?? Must be Pres Bush's fault.........

HarryD (and Ellie),

9/11 was indeed a national tragedy. There have been some (Rudy Giuliani, Mary Matalin among them) who claimed that it didn't happen during the Bush administration. It did. There have been others (Bush included) who claimed that nobody suspected such a thing.

But the PDB of Aug. 6, 2001 had a rather telling title, and it discussed bin Laden's desire to attack inside the United States, including cities like DC, New York and Los Angeles. "According to the CIA and the 9/11 commission, there were 40 other mentions of Al Qaeda or Bin Laden in the President's Daily Briefs before 9/11."

But the Bushies were more interested in tax cuts and deregulation (and we see what that did to the economy, and to the national debt).
George Allen was a Bush minion.

Here's the PDB:

http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/terrorism/80601pdb.html

Alex is exactly right. Clinton took advice from Greenspan and others in cutting some spending, reducing the size of government, and raising taxes on the wealthiest (without a single Republican vote of support in Congress) so that he could pare the national debt run up by Reagan and Bush #1. Clinton balanced the federal budget multiple times, and generated budget surpluses that were to pay down debt and preserve Social Security.

Bush #2 threw all that away, and Allen helped him do it. Now we all are paying for it.

As I said facts are stubborn things.

CookieJar, while no great fan of Dubya or Allen, I would love to respond to the " Name one specific action by Barrack Obama in that role which has made this country less safe." you posed to Ellie, but in all fairness and per your request, I will wait until she responds.

Jim Webb will unseat himself as he has done absolutely nothing for anyone but himself. Some call him a war hero- I was in the same war..........he should repay all the funds that he took while employed as under Secretary of the Navy as a Republican.

George Allen? Hey, whatever floats your boat. He won't run- too many still remember his gaffs. I do hope that he let's the commoners run for office, and win, so that something has the possiblilty of getting done without the influence of lobbyists.

His run should be good for a couple of horrific one-liners, though.

George Allen said, "macaca." That's too rich.

I support Allen as part of the ABC - Anyone But Cuccinelli - platform.

It's amusing that Allen is now considered to be too moderate by Virginia Republicans. They are insane.

Yes, George, Virginia needs you!!!

What did Mr. Allen do for the residents of Virginia when he held office? Why would the commonwealth need him?

NO! Even if maybe not-as-bad as Cucinelli, Virginia is better than this!

Horse going south. North end is George Allen. Carpetbagger with VA roots less deep than a tulip poplar.

God, I hope not. Allen is a classic has been and typical establishment. Dweeb.
Don't like Webb, he has done NOTHING.
As usual there will be slim pickens to choose from.

And here I was thinking we were finally rid of that turkey, Malibu George.
I get regular e-mail updates from Webb's office.
He is one of the most intelligent people the state has ever elected. Read his books sometimes, especially "Born Fighting" about the Scots-Irish contribution to America. He is a true intellectual political figure in the tradition of Theodore Roosevelt.
And he is the type of person the Democratic Party needs, to counter the image it has only being for vegetarian animal rights types and warm fuzzy folks who cannot think beyond the latest PC trend.
I would love to see Webb in the White House.

George Allen has lived in Virginia since he was 19 and he's a carpetbagger? That designation must apply then to most Virginia politicians.

I suppose that HarryD hasn't been paying much attention for a good while. What did Bush do that was horribly bad for the country?? Really?

He paid no attention to the incessant warnings about extremist terrorism because he was more focused on unfunded tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy; he more than doubled the national debt; he bogged the country down in two unfunded wars, one of which was directed against a nation that had no involvement whatsoever in 9/11; he broke U.S. law and violated the U.S. Constitution in authorizing torture; he turned a blind eye to Wall Street fraud and then used taxpayer funds to bailout the banking culprits.

What has Obama done?

(1) Obama's health care reform (pushed through Congress against all Republican opposition.) It will ââ?¬â?? if fully implemented ââ?¬â?? provide health care to millions more people, help to reduce health care costs for smaller businesses, and will reduce health care costs for the country (the U.S. the ONLY developed nation in the world without a national health care plan).

(2) Obama got a financial reform bill passed in Congress, again, against Republican obstacles, that will help to reign in the fraudulent practices on Wall Street.

The Obama stimulus bill preserved more than 3 million jobs, helped states and localities continue providing services, and funded 15,000 infrastructure projects.

(4) Obama has gotten through the Congress reform of the student loan program, which will likely help millions of Americans ââ?¬â?? maybe even you ââ?¬â?? go to college (it appears that you need education that’s deeper and more accurate than Beck and Limbaugh and Fox).
http://www.nytimes.com/201

0/03/31/us/politics/31obama.html?_r=1

(5) And Obama got through the Congress a reform of credit card laws, which protects consumers ââ?¬â?? maybe even you ââ?¬â?? from the shenanigans of banks and lending companies.
Here’s a link on that:
http://www.cbsnews.com/sto

ries/2009/05/22/politics/m

ain5033322.shtml

And Obama got the repeal of ââ?¬Å?Don’t Ask, don’t Tell” which makes military service consistent with the constitutional values of equality and justice (which you probably care little for).

(7) And Obama got the START treaty approved by the Senate, which improves the security of American citizens and nuclear security world-wide.

I'd say the record is very clear.

Hey Guido "But really, what did he ever do besides beat Democrat candidates?" My god, isnt that enough?

That George Allen now represents the "moderate" wing of the Virginia GOP speaks volumes about the scary state of the Virginia GOP. (shudder)

Unseat Webb? I dont think Allen even knows how to raise the toilet seat...how could he unseat Webb???

Run George run. If it upsets the right wing of the party I am all for it. RUN GEORGE RUN>

He won't be able to keep his foot out of his mouth long enough to get a nomination. Why won't he just go away. I don't know what you expect Webb to "do" for Virginia, except he is fighting the closing of so many military bases.

OK. So, Obama made us look weak? With whom? W Bush MADE us weak. Who sees us as looking weaker now? In America: The consumers of corporate Babble-bla-bla-bla. The non-rich fans of Beck etc. who sell their children for reality show style fame. I am starting to believe in the lack of belief in Evolution. End Times? Lame Times? ............Sad Times!

Didn't Obama also end the waterboarding of gays?

No matter how you make light of the list this Administration ran a campaign on how they thought the world should be and not how the world really is.

Do you really think North Korea would have bombarded that island while Bush was President? Not a chance. Ole Dear Leader senses weekness.

Sotomayor's ruling did say that and the Supreme Court that she is now a part of overturned her racist ruling.

Healthcare premiums are up 10% as a whole. Benefits designed as tax cuts for the less forturnate are starting to be taken away as of Jan. 1 this year. More to come.

I forgot about the Gulf oil spill. Mismanagement at all levels.

Now we need to find out which Mao loving, Che hugging, Castro drooling revolutionist in the Whitehouse turned over all those messages to Wikileaks.

Good point, Hugh! I've never seen George Allen's birth certificate. Wasn't he born in Tunisia or Morrocco? I think I remember hearing that somewhere.

No one makes a "country less safe".

but, one can nominate and appoint people who do not add to the equation....i.e. Janet Napolitano, who hasn't a clue or the qualifications to head an agency with the word "security" in its name.

And you will notice Ron Paul was not elected. "True conservatives" never get anywhere.
Just because you asked the question I can bet you are a "true conservative".

Like myself you probably earn more than you spend, and believe that government should be smaller.

Also I bet you would enjoy the book, "Stones into Schools" by Mortenson.

Power to the people!!!

That's right. 9/11 never would have happened while Bush was president.

Oh wait, that's exactly what happened.

Saddam dissed my Daddy. 1....2....3.....Mission Accomplished!

democracy- Before you attack anyone, think about the glass house libs live in right now.

So anyone who goes along with adminstration policies that are proven to be "horribly bad" is a "worse US senator"??

By the way- name something that George Bush has done that was "horribly bad", that was unprovoked and not agreed to by the libs.

Seems like we really have a problem in the Congress- everything that the "lamers" just passed, as well as Obamacare before they became "lame"- is "horribly bad" for the nation- makes them, basically, "horribly bad" for the nation.

Feeble attempt?? How about playing poor golf and sucking down friggin' snow cones and hiding in Hawaii- while ones policies have done nothing but provide fodder for a complete change in our Congress- shows a lot of leadership there, huh?

and Biden's gaff's are OK............"this is a big f....ing deal, ya know"..

give it a rest- start attacking the current players, not the "has beens" and "wanna be's".

Find something good that the current POTUS and the current admin has doine for me, or even you..........that you couldn't have done for yourself with a little bit of gumption

Hawes Spencer, the brash commentator who only pretends to be a journalist, would do well to reduce his use of adjectives in what are purported to be news articles, lest he expose his bias and undermine what little credibility remains within the runny-ink pages of The Hook.

Despite all the shrill cries for attention, this rag is getting to be a serious snooze festival.

@ Guido: It was then-Gov. Charles Robb, a Democrat, who received a nude rubdown from beauty queen Tai Collins. If you are going to post, try to post something intelligent and factually accurate.

Huh??? I thought the article was about George Allen??? How did we get on Obama and his bad/good achievements???

Hey Hawes,

Write an article about Obama! Bet you would have the WORLD come out of the woodwork to comment! Some "dirty laundry" hasn't been released in a while...give me something to "good" to read...no, just kidding!!! Keep on keepin' on!!!

jeezelouise,

Many of those things are worthy of being upset about. But you can thank the GOP for it, and the fact that Obama didn't give them the drubbing they deserved. Lets doa rundown.

" Patriot Act extended."

Yes, in 2006 before Obama was President. Only 13 GOP Congressmen/women voted against it. 124 Democrats voted against it. No GOP Senators did.10 Dem Senators voted against it.

"Libs to take worse beating in 2012."

Not sure about that. Not if they start acting like Libs and stop acting like Republicans.

"Tax cuts extended."

That was a GOP thing.

"Unemployment at 9.7 percent. 20% or more if you use real numbers."
Stinks, doesn't it? Yet unemployment is expected to slowly drop this year, and 1 million jobs have been added to the economy. In 8 years Dubya lost 8 Million. What's your point?

"North Korea misbehaving."

Yep. That's old news over the last 12 years. Find something new.

"Health care costs skyrocketing. Benefits cut to people who have insurance."

you know, now that's funny. Because my costs actually went down slightly, and my benefits were increased. I get the feeling thats because more people in my group are now receiving benefits that are garnering economies of scale.

" White people cannot be discriminated against. Justice Sotomayor"

When you can victimize people anymore, play the vistim by making stuff up, right?

Totally off the subject, but here is the deal. We were attacked on September 11, 2001, we responded. I believe that we did the same after Dec 7, 1941. Fewer people killed or maimed at Pearl Harbor, and most were in the military. The response was huge, with 416,000 US military killed. An easier war to fight as well, with a visible enemy.

What do you all propose that we should have done after September 11, 2001? Heck, we are not even allowed to profile those who could be the enemy!

Have at it Whateva! Might make for an interesting discussion. I'm pretty certain Ellie is never going to be able to come up with a response.

Oldtimer - glad your healthcare premiums went down, mine went UP 30bucks a month.

"George Allen said Macaca. That's too rich"
and
"His run should be good for a couple of horrific one-liners"

What can I add? I'm already LMAO at the idea of George Allen campaigning again. Just as I told a friend of mine as Allen was losing his run against Webb, George would have done much better if he'd never campaigned, never made any appearances, and for sure NEVER made any public utterances.

But really, what did he ever do besides beat Democrat candidates? And besides embarassing those of us who can actually pronounce 'Virginia' or who've got better morals or at least better sense than to get nude rub-downs from beauty queens, what does anyone remember about his entire 'career'? But I say run, Georgie, run. We need the laughs.

Harryd, Obama cut my taxes and yours too, big time. Sorry you didn't hear about it on foxnews.

Also, MANY liberal democrats voted against the Iraq war resolution. Go ahead and look it up, it's a true fact. It's also true that many democrats voted for it, but they tended to be the more conservative members of the caucus.

Again, I'm sorry you were ignorant of these facts. What's troubling is that you appear to be forming opinions and foregone conclusions from a position of ignorance and not knowledge. It's sad that your viewpoint requires that you remain an ignorant and steadfast believer in falsities. At least Glenn Beck would be proud of you!

Hey Harry, here is a list of things Pres. Obama has done in office. Read it and tell us what you think!

http://obamaachievements.org/list

#2 HarryD says to name one thing that Obama has done. Here are a number:

(1) Obama's health care reform (pushed through Congress against all Republican opposition.) It will ââ?¬â?? if fully implemented ââ?¬â?? provide health care to millions more people, help to reduce health care costs for smaller businesses, and will reduce health care costs for the country (the U.S. the ONLY developed nation in the world without a national health care plan).

(7) And Obama got the START treaty approved by the Senate, which improves the security of American citizens and nuclear security world-wide.

The record is rather clear, HarryD.

Well he does know his football; I'll give him that.

The establishment is running George Allen because the establishment is threatened by (scared to death of) true conservatives, and they don't want any more of them to get into office.

"Born Fighting" is a brilliant book. Jim Webb is hardly liberal but he's very decent and that alone makes him a Democrat.

Somebody,,
Just who are these true conservatives? I find more true Conservatives in the Democratic Party than I do anywhere on the right. I think Ron Paul is the only conservative figure I know if that wears the GOP moniker.

So far, teh so called Tea PArty candidates are going right on at spending money. But what did I expect from a party that is full of welfare and social entitlement benefits.

#1 HarryD says to name one thing Bush did that was so horribly bad for the country.

Here are several:

1) He paid no attention to the incessant warnings about extremist terrorism because he was more focused on unfunded tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy;

(2) he more than doubled the national debt;

(3) he bogged the country down in two unfunded wars, one of which was directed against a nation that had no involvement whatsoever in 9/11;

(4) he broke U.S. law and violated the U.S. Constitution in authorizing torture;

(5) he turned a blind eye to Wall Street fraud and then used taxpayer funds to bailout the banking culprit;

(6) he left behind a final budget that contained another $1+ trillion deficit, and a broken economy.

George: show us your birth certificate.

Bush also unleashed D. Cheney on us. War profiteer. There is a special place in h*ll for those who get rich that way.

The USA PATRIOT Act needs to be added to Bush's horribly bad column.

George Allen was a so-so governor, and a worse U.S. Senator. He went along with the Bush administration on virtually all of its policies; policies that recent history has proved to be horribly bad for the nation and its security.

Worse, not only did Allen openly call a dark-skinned videographer for the Webb campaign "macaca" (a racial pejorative used by French colonials in reference to North Africans), but then he tied to deny it and then offered multiple and different excuses.

The comment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r90z0PMnKwI

Allen's feeble attempt to cover for himself on Meet the Press:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRfP3vj8Gl8

George Allen is what he is: a very conservative, partisan Republican who favors corporate interests and the interests of the wealthy over the interests of the people and the country.

That Allen is now perceived as "too moderate" by his fellow conservative Republicans shows just how far to the nutty right-fringe the Republican party in Virginia has moved.

You people are crazy and obviously don't do any independent research; you just regurgitate what's broadcast by the liberal news outlets. Very sad.

Thanks for sharing the results of your research with us William. Your post would have been completely waste of time had you not done that.

I am curious William.

What, exactly, is incorrect about what I posted on (1) Bush's "horribly bad" for the country list? (and don't forget to include cookiejar's condemnation of the so-called Patriot Act).

And what, exactly, is incorrect about my list of Obama's achievements (all fully verifiable)?

And where, William, do you get your "news?"

What? He couldn't find a decent job in the private sector?

Yes, I too await William's "independent research"! He'll show you all!!!

Those "facts" regurgitated above were all reported in the biased media!! This means that, even though the facts are true, THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED BECAUSE THE MEDIA IS BIASED!!!!

It's just like the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin interview. Because we all know Katie Couric is biased, the whole thing becomes irrelevant. Just because Sarah Palin couldn't answer the most basic of questions without sounding like an ignoramus doesn't mean anything! The point is Katie Couric is biased to be asking her those "gotcha" questions!

Thank you William for showing us the truth in a factual, and easily verifiable way. We are in debt to your scholarly knowledge and wisdom.

President Obama helped me keep a roof over my head through the Making Homes Affordable program. I can't bash him.

Yes, whateva, the blurb was about George Allen....it drifted to Bush/Obama because I commented that Allen was a poor Senator, voting consistently for bad Bush policies. HarryD said to name one bad policy of Bush, and one thing that Obama has done for anyone.....

As to friend William.....where ARE you? Where do you get your "independent research?"

Wherever it is, I bet it is not from this Pulitzer prize-winning organization, that recently named its 2010 political lie of the year:

http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2010/dec/16/lie-year-governm...

democracy- yea you diod- and well? name one...........and let's get the second part right- name something that Obama has done for anyone that anyone could not do for themselves with some gumption.

democracy- nice list- unfortunately all were done with the majority of the Congress behind him.

Blame it on Bush. Why not. I am just waiting for President Obama to accept his paycheck and the responsibility of the position instead of acting like a child.

"Mommy, he did it, I only wanted to fix it- he did it mommy......really Mommy, I found it that way......"

He's so friggin' smart that he had no clue what to expect when he accepted the job. Perhaps if he had played the Congressional game just a bit longer he may have figured it all out, but no- the teleprompter beckoned him.

I suspected as much HarryD.

You asked for ONE thing that Bush did that was bad for the country and I gave you a half-dozen of them.

You asked for ONE thing that Obama did that helped the country (and people like you and me) and I gave you seven of them.

Then, you simply dismiss both lists (you have a well-tuned mental capacity for rejecting out-of-hand any factual data that does not fit into your conservative, myopic perception).

Maybe you get your "independent research" from the same place(s) that our friend William (where are you?) gets his.

But facts are facts, and they can be quite stubborn.

Bash Bush all you want, at least the man kept this country safe and is a TRUE Patriot of the USA.
I wish I could say the same for the current CIC. Sadly I cannot.

Ellie, get off the fluoride.

democracy- you win, thank you for straightening me out. Your POTUS is in the house now- I do hope he starts to accept the responsibilities of his own actions and decisions.

"But facts are facts, and they can be quite stubborn."

Yes- it certainly would not have happened if Gore were President, now would it.

at least George Bush accepts the responsibility for all of his actions and NEVER blamed anyone prior for anything that occured under his watch.

Ellie,

CIC, or Commander in Chief, refers specifically to the President's role as the civilian commander of the nation's military forces.

That power is granted by Article II, Section 2, Clause I of the Constitution:
"The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;..."

If you can, name one specific action taken by G.W. Bush in that role which made this country safer. Name one specific action by Barrack Obama in that role which has made this country less safe.

Sadly, I suspect you cannot.

No fair helping her anyone else.

Ellie- Slim Pickens has been dead almost 30 years... Bush uses words like Patriot (as in Patriot Act) but his actions undermined our civil liberties. These liberties were established by the Founding Fathers who were the true American patriots.

HarryD-Undersecretary of the Navy is a government post and is not funded by the RNC. Senator Webb served in that capacity as an American, not a Republican.

As for Allen's record as governor and senator, he accomplished very little. He created excessive prison space which we (taxpayers) pay for. He turned down money for education that had no strings attached. He made our state look like a state full of racist redneck buffoons to the rest of the country. Sparkling record of achievement.

Alex- Sorry Alex, Jim Webb was the Secretary of the Navy and it is a very political, executive branch appointment- PERIOD!

He was a Republican- Reagan would not have had it any other way. He changed parties in order to defeat a powerful, albeit, wacky opponent- George Allen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Secretary_of_the_Navy

Harry- While it is a political appointment, it is a post that is part of the United States government and its holder is intended to serve the people of this country to the best of his ability. The strict ideological tests does not guarantee us the best possible government. Bill Clinton actually appointed members of the opposition party (Cohen) to Cabinet posts (Secretary of Defense). He also took counsel from Fed Chairman Greenspan who was a Republican appointee. As we are all Americans, it is in the interest of the public good to have an effective government of capable people.

You all win, I feel so bad, we'll see...............

back to George Allen- he is as wacky as the day is long

my original comment:

Jim Webb will unseat himself as he has done absolutely nothing for anyone but himself. Some call him a war hero- I was in the same war”Š”Š”Š.he should repay all the funds that he took while employed as under Secretary of the Navy as a Republican.

George Allen? Hey, whatever floats your boat. He won’t run- too many still remember his gaffs. I do hope that he let’s the commoners run for office, and win, so that something has the possiblilty of getting done without the influence of lobbyists.

Sorry, but some people can actually "make a country less safe". GW Bush, our last "president" did it. How many terrorists are in the world now since he responded incorrectly to 9-11?

"We were attacked on September 11, 2001, we responded."

You must mean our bombing and subsequent invasions of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt, the countries the hijackers came from?

CookieJar...sorry so long to respond, but I work....What Obama has done to make the USofA unsafe...he has made us look WEAK...or weaker than we already did.
How? 1. His obsession with Healthcare...while I agree our healthcare system is broken...I don't think it should have been job number one. He should have moved further into shoring up our economy and winning the trust of the american people. Instead he shoved it down our throats and got cocky about it. 2. ILLEGALS and his unwillingness to enforce the laws of our country. INSTEAD, he tries to get the DREAM act passed. That was VERY wrong in my opinion...let them learn our language, get a sponsor and naturalize the right way. No freebies. We already have enough of our "social programs" being abused, I don't think we needed anymore. 3. His stunt with the "behind closed doors" with Clinton then walking off the stage saying "you're in good hands, Michelle is waiting for me to go to a Christmas party". HUH????? This said ONE big thing...I am too busy to DO MY JOB!!! Here...let the ex president of 10 years ago take over for me, I have better things to do. 4. He should be leading by example...while I have no problem with a vacation, he takes a lot of em' (or maybe we just hear about them more because we ARE in a recession). For him to go on vacation, it's expensive. So that leads to the increase in national debt. Now, don't get me wrong on this one..there hasn't been a president that hasn't contributed to the national debt, but he promised CHANGE and YES WE CAN...still waiting for both of those things. So in closing, know that I am one of the completely FED UP with politicians as a whole (no, not a teabagger) and want to see someone step up to the plate that CARES. I just don't see this in Barrack Obama. I see someone that has his own agenda as I saw when he was campaigning. And no, I did not vote for him...I did a write in for Bill Cosby to make a statement that NEITHER candidate was qualified to do the job. Yet we as Americans will vote for a party regardless of the devil himself being on the ticket. I see in Barrack Obama, a man that was using his arrogance to look confident until the latest elections (no more Repubs riding in the back of the bus). Also, I read his book "Dreams of My Father"...want to know the man...read that book. So in closing a second time, we as a country look weaker than ever because we can not produce a decent candiate to run for our leader that will not let it go to their head, turn to special interest groups or be so corrupt and immoral that it reflects on us all.

The response was huge, with 416,000 US military killed. An easier war to fight as well, with a visible enemy.
***
Way to contradict yourself in consecutive sentences. Yeah, defeating the military forces of the Third Reich and Empire of Japan, both well equipped, well mobilized, and generally successful up to that point, was a cakewalk compared to subduing the ragtag Taliban who posed no substantive military threat to the US. 9/11 was about 1/10000 as important as Pearl Harbor.

Patriot Act extended.
Gitmo still open for 'bidness'.
Libs took beating in 2010.
Libs to take worse beating in 2012.
Tax cuts extended.
TSA fondling kids and old people.
Banks not lending.
Unemployment at 9.7 percent. 20% or more if you use real numbers.
North Korea misbehaving.
Health care costs skyrocketing. Benefits cut to people who have insurance.
Dog fighting is ok.
Mao and Mother Teresa.
White people cannot be discriminated against. Justice Sotomayor
Gun clinging.
Beer Summit.

If you add all of this up you can only come to one conclusion.

Community organizer.

Here is the deal- Never have blamed anyone for anything. Get it?

Each of us can make our own decisions- we don't need the Government doing it for us- Get it?

I do not hear any former Presidents blaming each other for what they feel they "inherited"- Get it?

The only one I hear blaming former Presidents is the current POTUS-Get it?

The one who does not "get it" is the current President- if he had stuck it out in Congress, or perhaps went to the grad school of life, instead of grinning his way onto a ballot, he might have figured out that his current gig is really not for the "faint of heart"- as he has found out. Get it?

Sorry, but the current President is short on everything- including intestinal fortitude. I do hope that he is not faced with a real crisis before the is the voters "redshirt him"- Get it?

Really Sean? So everyone is on this planet to support you? We are here to ensure you are taken care of?
While 50% of the population work, pay taxes and make sacrifices the other 50% get to lounge around and work the system? Do you want you car insurance paid also? Maybe a free house or an oversees trip for a few months?

We are at your beckon call Sean. This is your world and we are just passing through.

Back to George Allen's hopefully UNsuccessful run for office . . . The clip mentioned earlier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRfP3vj8Gl8) includes Tim Russert asking Allen about keeping a noose in his office along with the confederate flag. And do you hear Allen denying any of it?? He didn't deny it!! A noose!! Who keeps a noose?? C'mon people! Wake up and smell the racism.

The best thing about Allen is not that he called an Indian student "macaca" (a racist term meaning "monkey" in his mother's native tongue)...it was the fact that he awkwardly claimed he meant "mohawka" because the kid had a "mohawk"...even though he didn't have a mohawk (he had a mullet), and mohawk is a really easy word to remember, and no one accidentally says "macaca" because they can't think of the word "mohawk". Allen's the kind of good ole southern racist that'll pee in your face and tell you it's a warm Blue Ridge gentle rain...

Why are you hypocrites making fun of his southern heritage? Is it because he is not in a protected class like most of you blatant racists?

Practice what you preach and constantly whine about.

You're so right jeezlouise! Those poor kloseted klansmen get no respect a'tall from the gosh durn libs.

So now he is a klansman? Anyone with any ties to southern heritage is a klansman?

I know your type. You portray yourselves as diverse, caring, and role models.

You guys are fake. You eavesdrop on conversations waiting for the moment when you can twist someones words around. You nit pick articles. You pick and choose sections of speeches so you can scamper to your friends and share the information. Your eyes light up when you are acknowledged and have your 10 minutes of fame.

This charade is coming to an end just like the McCarthy era did.

Jeezlouise is right...after all, all he did was hang a confederate flag and a noose in his office, call an Indian kid a derogatory racist name for a "monkey" in his mother's native tongue, and use the n-word to people that he knows. That's "southern heritage"! If we don't protect southern heritage it will disappear! Then where would we be?

And so it begins.

A noose is an automatic sign of racism? Give me a break. Maybe it was a warning to his staff to work or get fired.
The "monkey" term used could have been pet name used within the family. Remember the Howard Cosell fiasco and what came to light years later?
Confederate Flag? You are really reaching.
Use of the N word. Hearsay or he could have been reciting lyrics by his favorite hip hop 'artist'.

Another smear campaign compliments of the left.

Wow...naive much, jeezlouise? Okay...the word macaca is a racist insult in his mother's native tongue. It would be like calling her son the n-word to use it as a pet name. And yes the n-word claims are hearsay from people who had been close to him and had no reason to lie about him...and all of them, including Allen, do not listen to "hip hop". Oh and plus...wouldn't he have told us it was a family "pet name" if that was his excuse, rather than telling us he was mispronouncing "mohawk"? I realize you don't WANT to see reason because you like Allen, or that you just don't think that semi-latent racism is something to be worried about in our representatives, but if you change your mind about Allen, you will at least have the luxury of not fooling yourself.

PS: @Whateva,...where to even begin tearing apart your ridiculous claims?! You know how it's not worth sewing patches on a pair of pants because there's no good fabric left to even stitch to? That's kind of your analysis of Obama versus GWBush. Oh, and by the way...a president that didn't contribute to the deficit? Clinton.

"MACACA!!!!" That was the sound of George Allen's political career ending!
