Poet Alexander Lowell at Random Row

Poet and prose writer Alexander Lowell will read from and sign copies of his two recently published books: The Look of Love, a poetry collection; and Roll Away the Stone, the first in a mystery series featuring Greek Cypriot poet and occasional sleuth Stavros Odysseos, at Random Row Books on December 4 at 7pm.

Mr. Lowell, under various pen names, has published poetry and short fiction in the US, England, Scotland and Cyprus. He has reviewed dance, theater, photography, music and painting for newspapers and magazines in Chicago, San Francisco and Massachusetts, and in 1979 was nominated for a Pulitzer in Criticism. In Cyprus he wrote feature articles, reviewed restaurants and wine, and penned a popular column for the Cyprus Mail. He was chief writer and associate publisher of Cyprus Gourmet and in Virginia has written for Flavor and Virginia Wine Gazette. In 1985 he was a finalist for the Virginia Prize in Fiction. Co-signing books as cover artist and providing musical accompaniment (as Aeon Yahweh), will be Jean-Baptiste CM Stowell. Saturday, Dec. 4, 7 pm at Random Row Books, 315 W. Main St., 326-5501.
