The inch or so of rain that's fallen overnight is a mere presage, as the National Weather Service warns of heavy rains Monday night that could cause creeks and streams to overflow their banks.

The flash flood watch was issued shortly after 9am September 27 and continues into September 28 as "a potent area of low pressure" moves into the region.

The Service asserts that "most of the rain is expected tonight into Tuesday morning ahead of a cold front."
