Charlottesville to host 2011 wine bloggers conference

winebloggersconferenceOn the heals of Restaurant Week, Governor Bob McDonnell has announced that the national 2011 Wine Bloggers Conference will be held in Charlottesville next summer, which will bring more than 300 wine industry bloggers to town July 22-24.

According to conference officials, Charlottesville was chosen because of Virginia’s growing status as a wine producing region, plus they appear to dig Hookville.

“Charlottesville is a very cool city with a major university and a fantastic downtown walking mall,” they write on the organization’s blog. “ We also have a super hotel, the Omni, right downtown.”

Whoever is behind the PR on this event deserves a pat on the back. Not only is the announcement everywhere on the Internet a full year before the event, its even got CBS News slapping up a post! Who knew wine bloggers were so popular.
