Garcia wins silver medal

Update 7/11/10:  Garcia took the silver medal in the 3000m steeplechase today with a time of 10.20.50, just behind fellow Team USA member and Kansas University star Rebeka Stowe (10.08.58) and just ahead of Mexico's Sara Prieto (10.54.34)

Hook Music editor Stephanie Garcia covers the local music scene, but she can also cover some serious ground. Garcia, a recent UVA graduate and a member of the school’s track and field team, made Team USA’s roster for the 2010 NACAC Under-23 Track & Field Championships this weekend in Miramar, Florida. She’ll be representing the USA in the 3000m steeplechase competition. Back in June, Garcia finished 10th in the steeplechase at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She was the first Cavalier to advance to the finals of the event since Dawn Cleary did in 2003. Go, Stephanie!
