Ventana offers affordable new summer menu

Ventana owner Michael Fitzgerald has announced some coming changes this summer for his Downtown Mall restaurant. They’ll now be doing brunch on Saturdays and Sunday from 11:30am to 3pm. They are also offering lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 to 2pm.

“We’ve also just hired a new sous chef, Dave King, who will be handling lunch and brunch duties,” says Fitzgerald. “Dave came to us by way of DC and has been Sebastien's [head chef Sebastien Jack] right-hand man in the past.”

But wait, that’s not all! Ventana is also offering a new summer dinner menu which “hits a less expensive price point without making too many compromises,” says Fitzgerald. Plus, on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the summer there is going to be a three-course prix fixe menu for just $25.

Ventana will also be participating in Charlottesville Restaurant Week July 12 through 18, offering a $26 prix fixe menu all week with $1 going to the Peanut Butter and Jelly Fund.

And, of course, Ventana’s extensive late night menu will be in full force Thursday through Saturday until 1am.

The food at Ventana is amazing...and the owner has always been friendly in my experience. It's a little pricey, but worth it for the quality of food and great atmosphere.

We just went and it actually is more affordable than it was before. And the food is (and has mostly always been) amazing. Sebastien is a genius!

I have had two bad experiences there, one with the owner. Won't ever go back. I can only guess that this guy has a deep pocket (to help cover all those parking tickets get gets as his BMW sits parked illegally in the alley) and doesn't mind reaching into it, because otherwise this place can't stand on its own. Must be a hobby.

Affordable and Ventana...that will be the day.

The lobster bisque at Ventana is too die for. Since that is all I ever order when I go in, I cannot speak to the entire menu, but I have had
a taste of this and that from other's plates and have always loved everything.

Have had nothing but excellent treatment from the owner, the wsitstaff and particularly from BART, who licked my face clean after dinner.

A worthwhile and memorable experience to be repeated.
