Derby Dames promote "Whip It"

news-whip-itThe Charlottesville Derby Dames lace up their skates and swarm the Carmike 6 parking lot at 7pm Friday night, October 2, for the opening of Whip It, Drew Barrymore's directorial debut. Ellen Page, the girl from Juno, hits the track with Barrymore, Saturday Night Live's Kristen Wiig, and Juliette Lewis. Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden plays the mom. The local not-for-profit Derby Dames are looking for a few good women with skates and a high tolerance for pain. "Fresh meat" practices are held on Wednesdays and the first home bout is November 1.

Thanks for the promo! Just want to make a correction however, Nov.1st is our first 'home' bout. We have been in two other bouts out of town and have one coming up soon in Harrisonburg against the Rocktown Rollers October 18th! Anyone can come!
