Unopposed Rooker sits on biggest war chest

hotseat-rooker21Not only is Albemarle Supervisor Dennis Rooker running for reelection unopposed, he's also got the most money– $70K as of August 31, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, including $7,500 from author John Grisham.

Over in the Rio District, incumbent and Chair David Slutzky leads with $45K (Grisham gave $7,500 to him as well) over his Republican challenger Rodney Thomas, who's pulled in $28,000. His biggest contributor is Charlottesville Press, which Thomas owns.

The donations in the three-way Samuel Miller district are comparatively paltry. Independent John Lowry leads with $14,571, followed by Republican Duane Snow with $5,335, and Dem Madison Cummings at $1,685. –FILE PHOTO BY JEN FARIELLO

Yes, Rooker supports the Nature Conservancy's 50-year water supply proposal at apparently unknown costs, a new regional transportation authority at unknown cost http://cvilletomorrow.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834519bec69e201157193a0c7970b-..., and a fee-based emergency services organization with unknown cost. http://cvilletomorrow.typepad.com/charlottesville_tomorrow_/2009/09/albe...
I find it hard to believe that he is unopposed.

Let's hope that he wins. Rooker seems to have a good grasp of a lot of important issues (water, transportation, etc).
