Mountain blast: Brew Ridge Trail Music Festival
The first annual Brew Ridge Trail Music Festival was held Saturday, August 22 at Devil's Backbone Brewery in Nelson County. A morning of pouring rain was eventually replaced by the pouring of Central Virginia-brewed beer from all five local breweries–- Blue Mountain, Starr Hill, Devil's Backbone, South Street, and Albemarle Ciderworks. The afternoon sunshine and local libations raised the crowd's spirits, as did the regional sounds of musical acts including The Infamous Stringdusters, Sons of Bill, and Jesse Harper. Festival organizers Cerberus Productions are looking forward to hosting the festival again next summer, so if you didn't make it out this year, be on the lookout in 2010. (Click image for slideshow.)

oh c'mon i dont want to hear that!! : (
i actually don't think it was worth it. being a beer festival with a $15 entrance fee (and beer tickets being $5 apiece), i was expecting tastings and the opportunity to talk to people who were involved in the brewing process for the beers that were featured.
instead, i was refused when i asked to taste beers and the people behind the counters couldn't have cared less. i mean, i can taste and talk to wine makers at a wine festival, why can't it be the same at a beer festival?
i doubt very much that i'll go back next year. i'd much rather go to one of the breweries themselves and talk to the people involved.
What a fantastic event! Incredible music, gorgeous site and wonderful people. It couldn't have been better. Nelson county rocks!
