Zimmerman chosen for first All-Star Game

news-zimmermanAfter the first half of the 2009 season in which he's hit 13 home runs, 47 RBI, and a .293 average thus far, Washington Nationals third baseman and UVA alum Ryan Zimmerman has made his first All-Star Game. Major League Baseball made Zimmerman's selection official when it unveiled the National League roster on Sunday, July 5. Zimmerman will be a reserve on the NL squad, chosen by the team's manager, Charlie Manuel of the Philadelphia Phillies. The player recently christened "Magnum Z.I." by the Washington media takes the field at New Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Tuesday, July 14.

Go away Scott- we got mad love for Zim and couln't be happier with this.

Zim is ok but his throwing errors are something that need to be tuned up. A BETTER CHOICE would have been Cristian Guzman
...he's as steady as any shortstop in the league...hits for team high average every year and stays healthy.
