Street burritos and tacos have joined the offerings out of wagons on the Downtown Mall. L's Burrito & Juice Company moved into town July 2 in front of DerriĊĦre de Soie, and owner Lyndon Larson promises a northern New Mexican experience not found around here, except maybe Chipotle– and which is not to be confused with Mexican.

The difference? Hatch, New Mexico, "Chile Capital of the World," says Larson, who lived there for 10 years.

An achiote & Hatch green chile rub seasons the chicken burrito. The pork is slow-roasted in an ancho chile, cider, and cherry marinade. And the beef is "slowly braised and perfectly seasoned," promises the simple menu. Burritos are $6, and tacos cost $2.50 and come with marinated cabbage.

And the "juice" in its name is fresh-squished limeade, 16 ounces for $2.50.

"It's obviously a little American white man's magic," Larson says of his offerings.

Larson attended the New England Culinary Institute, and has cooked at fishing lodges in Alaska and as a private chef on a yacht. And now he's going to be on the Mall six days a week from 11am until "we run out of food."

I'm hoping Mr. Larson will consider branching out. Pawleys Island, SC and Charleston, SC are prime markets for his amazing custom cousine! How much for a wagon and most importantly his recipes??

Yum--recently had a visitor from N. Virginia, when dinner time rolled around it was great to stroll the Mall and say, "What's your pleasure French, Italian, Thai, Indian" and now I can add, New Mexican.

I have eaten many meals cooked by Lyndon Larson of L's Burrito. Delicious! Delicious! This chef can cook anything & it is just plain wonderful to the palet...
