Obama nominates Beyer as Ambassador to Switzerland

If President Obama has his way, a prominent Virginia politico will soon be packing his bags for Bern. Former Lieutenant Governor Don Beyer (D) is the president's choice to become the next U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland. The Falls Church auto dealer and 1997 Virginia gubernatorial candidate was an early backer of President Obama's candidacy, and according to the Washington Post raised more than $1.5 million for his campaign.
