UVA IM chief Mark Fletcher dies suddenly
Mark Fletcher, the affable UVA administrator who oversaw key aspects of major concerts at Scott Stadium and built the university's intramural sports program into a nation-leading juggernaut in which 94 percent of students participate, died June 8 after a morning run. UVA chief operating officer Leonard Sandridge hails the 57-year-old Fletcher as "simply the best."

Although I knew Mark only briefly, he had a quality about him rarely encountered. I will remember his kindness, willingness to listen, and consider carefully what he had heard. Not rushing to judgment, but seeking the middle way. I am sure those who knew him well will carry these qualities on in the world as I will also try to do.
I went to high school with him. What a great man. You will be missed.
Had wonderful times with him and still have wonderful memories
What a very nice man, this is quite sad. My best wishes to his wife and family. He was truly one of the very best people I have ever dealt with at the University.
