Deeds, Moran pull even with McAuliffe in new poll
With one week to go until the June 9 Democratic primary for governor, both State Senator Creigh Deeds and former delegate Brian Moran have pulled even with one-time frontrunner and former Democratic National Committee chair Terry McAuliffe. According to the latest survey of likely primary voters from Public Policy Polling, Deeds has actually leapfrogged McAuliffe, earning 27 percent of voters' support to McAuliffe's 24 percent, and Moran's 22 percent. That's a significant shift from just one week ago, when McAuliffe led both Deeds and Moran by nine points. Add to that that the fact that 26 percent of those polled were still undecided and that the survey had a 4.1 percent margin of error, and the race truly becomes neck-and-neck-and-neck.

A SurveyUSA poll for ABC 7/WJLA-TV released Monday shows Deeds leading with 42 percent,... A Public Policy Polling survey released Sunday showed the same trend, with Deeds commanding 40 percent of those polled to McAuliffe’s 26 percent and Moran’s 24 percent.

Golly gee willikers, Batman! I doubt Deeds will be seeking Will Jones' endorsement.
This is good news for Virginia democrats and the electorate as a whole. A competitive race in the fall could possibly mean a real and vigorous debate regarding the differences between the candidates.
Guess the Democrats have decided that they want to win. Larry Sabato predicted that Deeds is the only one who can beat the Republican candidate Bob McDonnell.
