Spotsylvania man wins $75.6 million lottery jackpot

Five months after getting laid off from his job as a construction worker, Joe Denette of  Spotsylvania County purchased one of three winning Mega Millions lottery tickets from the May 1 drawing, entitling him to a $75.6 million payout, the third-largest prize in Virginia Lottery history. However, Denette is opting for the lump sum payout option, leaving him with a mere $47.8 million before taxes. Denette purchased the ticket at the Joyful Convenience Market in Woodford.
