Gibson to leave Live Arts

Longtime Live Arts artistic director John Gibson will leave the building at the end of 2009 after 18 years at the community theater. Besides overseeing 200 shows and 50 special events, Gibson also led the construction and move to the theater's current digs on Water Street. Next up? "I have no idea what I'm doing," he says. "I'm leaping into the unknown." One thing spurred Gibson, who's approaching 44. "The saddest thing I can imagine is me at age 64 on a ladder wiring together another Gala chandelier." –PHOTO BY JACK LOONEY

didn't he leave once before--for Chapel Hill or San Francisco--only to return to Charlottesville and LiveArts within a year or two after his departure
