Jaguars pick UVA's Monroe in NFL Draft

news-monroeAfter some speculation that he might join his former Virginia Cavaliers teammate Chris Long with the St. Louis Rams, UVA fourth-year offensive tackle Eugene Monroe was the eighth overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Monroe's selection marks the fourth time in five years that a player from UVA has been drafted in the first round. Three other Wahoos heard their names called over the weekend: linebacker Clint Sintim was selected in the second round by the New York Giants, and running back Cedric Peerman became a Baltimore Raven in the sixth round, and tight end John Phillips went to the Dallas Cowboys, also in the sixth round.
