Obenshain unhappy with our new train

The two new state-subsidized Amtrak trains–- including the Lynchburg-Charlottesville-New York service slated to begin October 1–- have drawn the wrath of fiscally conservative Harrisonburg state senator Mark Obenshain, according to a Lynchburg News story.

Have to agree with intermodal on the back burner this does seem like a luxury. And UVA folks don't seem to see any improvement in the time saved or schedule.

Having a train running through central VA is cost saver for those who want to travel. This is not just for UVa. This is for everyone who does not want to drive the distance. I would hope that people in central VA would see the benefit in not having to waste gas while taking a relaxing and safer ride.

We'd take rail trips to D.C. regularly (just to visit Hogate's) if Amtrak's inefficiency didn't make it prohibitively expensive.
But Lynchburg? Why in the world would we want to go there?
