Coach watch: Alabama offers Grant $2 million

If UVA officials wanted to hire Virginia Commonwealth head men's basketball coach Anthony Grant to lead their Cavaliers, they may be too late. Richmond's WTVR reports that Grant is visiting the campus of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa today and that Alabama has made Grant an offer to coach the Crimson Tide for between $2.1 and $2.4 million annually. That's reportedly double what VCU has offered Grant to stay.

Give up UVA. Obviously Grant has no intrest at all in UVA. Looks like he is coming to the Tide. Also Tubby aint coming either so where does that leave yall?

30-45 days will be too late. Virginia already missed the first contact period for recruiting (which ended Sunday), and if they don't have somebody soon they'll miss the next ones (April 2-13, April 16-May 21).

If Littlepage's job isn't on the line with this specific hire, it should be. The problem is he's allowed the basketball program to decay to the point that it will take 3 or 4 years to bring it up to speed, and longer than that to make it highly competitive in the ACC. No name coach has that kind of patience, and no unknown coach has the chops to withstand the impatience that already exists thanks to the past 6 or 7 years of general ineptitude.

It continues to amaze me that the sport that has fallen the farthest in Littlepage's tenure is the one he has the most experience in. What does that tell you?

I think we will have a coach too...but who?

Everybody needs to relax until the NCAA's are over, Capel is still in it . I think we will have our coach in the next 30-45 days if not sooner.

No Grant you must stay in VA! If Grant slips past us Littlepage should be canned. The reality is all this Tubby-talk is spinnig our wheels while Grant has energy to get UVA on track again.

Wonder how much it would cost to re-hire Leitao ?

Tubby aint coming to UVA and Grant has no interest in that job. Who would?
