UVA losses down to mere $14 million in Jan.
After five months of UVA's endowment hemorrhaging more than $1 billion in value, the University of Virginia Investment Management Company reports the loss for January 2009 at around $14.5 million– less than half of December's $30.5 million in red ink. The endowment, which stood at $5.1 billion at the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2008, currently is valued at almost $3.9 billion.
