Thanksgiving traffic fatalities reduced by half

The Virginia State Police announced Monday, December 1 that nine people died in nine accidents on the Commonwealth's highways over the Thanksgiving weekend, traditionally the most traffic-heavy of the year. That's less than half of last year's 19 deaths in 18 accidents, and the lowest Thanksgiving death toll since 2002. Still, State Police warn that this is not cause for complacency, as troopers responded to over 1000 different accidents over the five-day holiday.
