NY Times weighs in on endowment

UVA joins Harvard, Duke and Columbia in a New York Times article today, "Beyond the Ivied Halls, Endowments Suffer," the topic of the November 20 Hook cover story. The Times notes that those universities are looking to unload extremely illiquid private equity, and the going rate since June has been 50 cents on the dollar. UVA plans to sell hundreds of millions in stocks, bonds and hedge funds to meet capital calls from its private equity commitments.
