LETTER- Seymour deserves harsh sentence

I was greatly saddened to hear of the cat that was shot [May 18 cover story: "Claws and effect"]. And the second article ["Seymour's lawyer," news, May 25, 2006] really made me sick.

Whether it was a stray cat or someone's pet, it is disturbing that George Seymour can take a life that way. If he had seen cats on his car, why not buy a car cover? I think that this man is deeply disturbed, and that he doesn't care about life. He very easily could have shot in the air to frighten the cat.

I hope he has bad dreams, gets a tough sentence, and let's get the laws changed in Virginia to make such a crime a felony.
