LETTER- Focus on facts, not rhetoric

As an environmental health scientist who closely tracks potential causes of autism, I completely support WINA's decision to drop Michael Savage over his ignorant comments about autism ["Savage sacked: WINA drops show over autism crack," July 31].

Freedom of the press is vital. But ignorant bloviating is something else. Why Charlottesville resident Linda McRaven would chime in here and amplify the ignorance is incomprehensible. She should become familiar with the science being debated about the causes of autism before advocating Savage's fact-free "throwing of bombs" because of ignorant fearlessness.

Let's focus on scientific facts, not rhetoric.
