In "UVA loses half a billion; Charlottesville deals" in the October 30 issue, UVA spokeswoman Carol Wood said "yes" to the question of whether the half-billion drop for UVA's endowment occurred before the dramatic market downturn of October. It was our story, and not Wood, that characterized the October losses as a "bloodbath."

If the folks at the Hook were against water fluoridation, the folks at the Hook would do an expose about water fluoridation. Since they haven't done an expose about water fluoridation, despite being called on to do so, we can reasonably assume that the folks at the Hook are demons.
