CORRECTIONS- Murder victim's pregnancy; Tytler's non-tirade

• In the January 29 article, "Cover-up: Killer said cop buried gun, victims outed her as a lesbian," the article stated that medical examiner records indicated that 1967 Staunton murder victim Connie Hevener was 2 1/2 months pregnant at the time of her death. This information was actually contained in Staunton police investigation notes, and the autopsy report states that Hevener was not pregnant at the time of her death.

• The January 22 back page essay, "Assured destruction: Why bail-outs could destroy the Union, opened with a quotation attributed to an 18th century Scottish history professor. For starters, an editing error botched the name of the professor, Alexander Tytler. More serious, perhaps, is that the quotation may be a 20th century creation, according to original research conducted by Georgia lawyer Loren Collins.
