LETTER- Health care trumps traffic

I am writing after being roundly criticized for my response to the "Question of the Week" regarding the biggest problem here in Charlottesville.

"Traffic?" people yell incredulously as they approach, "TRAFFIC?"

I would like to make it known that my first response was "health care." Upon delivering it, I was encouraged to come up with a local issue. Traffic is a local issue.

However, presumably there are sick people in Charlottesville who cannot afford the care they need, so... isn't that a local issue, too? The Free Clinic's schedule is crowded, suggesting that somebody out there must be sick and in need of some help.

Traffic. It's a tangible problem, to be sure, but it might also be the least of our problems.
