MY RIDE- Jennifer Hoffman: 1988 Ram Raider

When Jennifer Hoffman bought her Ram Raider two years ago, low mileage on the odometer was a big draw.

"It had 50,000 miles on it," says Hoffman, who reports the car had been owned by an old man in Arizona who "only used it to go hunting."

Proof of his pasttime: a small stain of deer blood still visible on the inside of the back door.

Hoffman likes the Raider's four-wheel drive for traveling to and from her home in the Fluvanna County village of Troy. And she appreciates its rustic features.

"It's very basic," she says, "crank windows and no electronic things to break all the time."
