QUESTION OF THE WEEK- Do you have any thoughts on Jerry Falwell's death?

Now videocast online at readthehook.com

Anne Metz:"I think the fact that Jerry Falwell has died is probably going to be really good thing for Lynchburg. I know that there have been a lot of people, particularly in the community actually, who have been trying to rebuild the downtown area and make it, in certain ways, more like Charlottesville. And I know that they were kind of counting the days till Jerry Falwell died. So I guess Lynchburg might become a place to go visit now."

Jeff Arrington: "I don't know much about the whole Jerry Falwell situation. I think I saw a statue about him once? That's about all I have."

Al Abram: "Rest in peace."

I'm glad he's in heaven now, and no longer on Earth.

Rev Falwell preached what his Bible taught him and what he believed. He never preached hate of any individual. He only condemned the sin, not the sinner. As our nation sinks further and further in decadence, the silence of voices such as Rev. Falwell and Billy Graham is a great loss to our changing society.

Sue: So how do explain these? They are ALL quotes by, the so called, Reverend Falwell.

“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.'”

“You know when I see somebody burning the flag, I’m a Baptist preacher I’m not a Mennonite, I feel it’s my obligation to whip him. In the name of the Lord of course. I feel it’s my obligation to whip him, and if I can’t do it then I look up some of my athletes to help me.”

“I want my people to be the most intolerant people in the world.”

"If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."

“Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions”.

"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"

"This 'turn the other cheek' business is all well and good but it's not what Jesus fought and died for."

I'm glad he's dead. If there is an afterlife I hope he's smoking a turd in hell for the duration.

Check out the second videocast. This dude is so stoned!! He's like: Falwell, who? Dude, I saw a statue or something......

I believe it's a good career move.

Jeffy, how you get so lost?
