ANNUAL MANUAL- Get Involved: Religion

No matter which God(s) you believe in, there's a place for you in Charlottesville. So we asked local residents, Where do you go to fulfill your spiritual needs?

JUSTINE BROWN

"I attend the [Transformation Ministries] First Baptist Church on Main Street. Pastor [Bruce] Beard can reach each individual on their own level."

MARTY BASS

"I'm a Quaker, and I think if there's such a thing as a God, nature is where to find it."

JEFF LACKEY

"I go to Palmyra United Methodist Church."

BOB COLEMAN

"I go to Scottsville Baptist Church because it's my hometown church and I've been going there forever."

MAURICE BOYD

"I don't go to church here, but once a month I go to church with my mom to St. Stephen Reformed Zion Union Apostolic Church in Bracey."

JANE GARTON

"I go to Smith Mountain Lake. It's peaceful, and I can think there."

MEGAN DRISCOLL

"I go to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church near the university. I find that's where I can think and reflect best."

JIM CAMBLOS

"I get great fulfillment from All Saints Anglican Church. I was born Episcopalian, and that's the traditional Episcopal church."

ANTONETTE HASH

"I don't really go to church, but I recently read The Secret [by Rhonda Byrne], and I found that very soothing. It's all about positive thinking bringing about positive results."

SUSAN WILKINSON

"I go to the Skyline Drive, and I hike all the trails there. You have to put the awe in your everyday life for spirituality. I go to Peace Lutheran Church, but you shouldn't confuse spirituality with religion."

JOHN MADDUX

"In my everyday life, I go to my son. He was almost killed in a hunting accident, and he has become very religious, and he's my spiritual advisor. I go to Christ Episcopal Church because a lot of my friends go there, and although I grew up Baptist, I switched when I went to St. Christopher's School in Richmond." #
