QUESTION OF THE WEEK- What's the best book you read this summer?
Edie Fogel:"The Help [by Kathryn Stockett]. I liked that they told a story about the way of life in the '60s in the south. Since I've just started graduate school in Savannah, it was good to read."
Clare van Montfrans: "The Adventures of Cavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. I really got into the characters and thought he did a great job explaining the history around the time period, too. "
David Lefevers: "I reread Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut. It's one of my favorites."

A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood...plan to read it again to pick up things I missed...interesting read.

The Help & Water for Elephants. Both excellent books!

About the battle of the Verdun
The Heart of the Sea by Philbrick
About the whaleship Essex that was sunk by an enraged whale in 1821 (the inspiration for Moby Dick). The survivors floated on the sea for 80+ days, eventually resorting to cannibalism. 8 of 21 ended up making it.
