Preston pyre: Another car fire as a Yellow Cab burns

Just when you thought the Charlottesville cold-weather trend of burning vehicles had ended, another one caught fire Thursday. This time, it happened at approximately 2:12 p.m. in the parking lot of the Region Ten Community Services Board headquarters on Preston Avenue.

According to Charlottesville Fire Chief Charles Werner, his crew arrived found a "heavily involved" blaze consuming a sedan bearing the distinctive paint job of the Yellow Cab company.

With the flames close to the building's entrance awning, firefighters rushed hose lines to attack the fire. Werner reports no damage to structure or injuries.

Unlike the last biggie for which Werner supplied copious photos, this one didn't occur near any fuel pumps.

Oh shucks! Can't blame this one on improper fueling or static electrictricy.

Have to chalk this one up to worn or improper wiring. :)

Someone left a freshly used crackpipe in the backseat, causing the fire. Got to get that burn on before court ordered region 10 yo.

Another car burned up in Fashion Square Mall about 6:10 p.m. on Friday night.

Appeared as if the fire originated in the engine compartment somewhere.

Must have smelled like puke and old socks burning.
