Help Morwenna Lasko and Jay Pun score a gig at Bonnaroo

Now that Facebook is officially the most popular site on the internet, we're just pleased as punch that you're spending your time with our humble readthehook.com. But right now we have to temporarily refer you back over there, since that's where you'll find local acoustic instrumental duo Morwenna Lasko and Jay Pun in the midst of a spirited campaign to land themselves a gig at Bonnaroo.

Pun and Lasko were selected by Sonicbids, a site that hosts electronic press kits for bands and musicians, for the Road To Roo contest, in which several hundred bands face off for one of the coveted slots at the annual Tennessee music festival. If you download "Machine Gun", a live staple which appeared on their 2009 sophomore album Chioggia Beat, they get bumped up a notch. When the contest ends on April 15, the top eight artists will go up for consideration before Bonnaroo's music supervisors, who will then award festival gigs to two lucky winners.

Lasko and Pun would be one of a very small number of Charlottesville acts who have performed at Bonnaroo, including Indecision, Sons Of Bill, and Dave Matthews Band. Unfortunately, while they were hanging on strong at #9 when they first started campaigning, they have since dropped to #28 – so get on it! And those of you that are thinking about attending yourself had better send it around to some friends as well, since this is the only way you have a prayer of getting backstage.
