Fastest fall from hero to jail inmate: North Garden resident Chuck Worden, 44, who made headlines for his April 16 rescue of an nine-year-old boy from flooding waters in Waynesboro, is in jail, awaiting extradition to Chemung County, New York, for violating probation stemming from a 2008 felony DUI, the News Virginian reports.

Most felonies: Charlottesville Police seek Gordon Stanley Price, 47, who has 53 felony convictions, led police on a recent high-speed chase in Louisa, and is wanted on outstanding warrants in four jurisdictions. Price is arrested April 20 in Fluvanna.

Most larcenies: The pair alleged responsible for more than 200 car break-ins–- Christopher Ballard and Kristie Ryder, both 19–- plead guilty to 11 and four counts of grand larceny, respectively, in Albemarle Circuit Court April 19, Tasha Kates reports in the Progress. The teens face up to 20 years on each count. Ballard will be sentenced in June and Ryder in August.

Most flying bullets: UVA fourth-year David Renardy is charged with a felony April 19 after he accidentally discharges his gun in his Chancellor Street apartment and it strikes neighboring Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, the Cavalier Daily reports. No one is hurt. And on April 23, a man is grazed by an unknown bullet in the 800 block of Page Street.

Longest sentence for girlfriend-burner: Cordrick Dade, 37, is sentenced to a 30-year active sentence for setting Yolanda Chambers on fire March 22, 2010, at his Stanardsville apartment when she came over to help get their children ready for school, the DP reports.

Worst commute: Fredrick S. Morton, 27, hits a utility pole that falls into both westbound lanes of U.S. 250 bypass near Free Bridge April 21, paralyzing traffic during evening rush hour on the bypass and clogging arteries throughout Charlottesville for hours. Morton is charged with reckless driving.

Worst trip: Police respond to a report of a vehicle being chased and shot at April 10 and find the alleged victim driving southbound on Seminole Trail at a high rate of speed–- with no one in pursuit. According to a release, police determine driver Erin Gress from Cornwall, NY, is under the influence of narcotics and having hallucinations, and she's charged with drugged driving.

First Socialist City Council candidate: Brandon Collins, 37, is collecting signatures to run and bring a more radical approach to city government, according to his campaign announcement.

Biggest water hog: An April 19 mulch-pile fire at Williams Lawn Care and Landscaping in Orange County takes 1.5 million gallons to extinguish, according to NBC29.

Most tennis: Boyd Tinsley's women's tennis competition, the event that brought Anna Kournikova to Charlottesville, celebrates its 10th anniversary April 25 at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

Most awkwardly timed emergency: A two-alarm fire sends firefighters to the Boar's Head Sports Club April 23 to find smoke coming from a sauna near the men's locker room, according to NBC29.

Best time to play ball: The Carson Raymond Foundation unveils a T-ball field April 23 at Woodbrook Elementary, in memory of the third grader who died in 2009 from an H1N1 virus, the Newsplex reports.

Best way to dispose of carcasses? VDOT considers composting roadkill, according to the Daily Press. The agency spends $4.4 million annually removing dead animals, and Charlottesville-based VDOT scientist Bridget M. Donaldson suggests that the current seemingly sustainable practice of burying beasts roadside could send nutrients and bacteria into the Chesapeake Bay.
