Tasty benefit for the arts

On Wednesday, May 11, the McGuffey Art Center is hosting a fundraiser for the Piedmont Council for the Arts. There'll be live music and dance performances, a silent auction of original paintings, travel vouchers, guitar lessons from Rick Olivarez,  writing classes at WriterHouse, and gift certificates to local boutiques and restaurants. But the thing that grabbed our attention: bourbon pairings, hors d’oeuvres, and wine by Harvest Moon Catering and Market Street Wineshops.

Yes, we're talking fine wine with white corn cakes with smoked salmon, charred asparagus tips, and bacon lardon; crispy polenta cups with bourbon-scented fig peach chutney and smoked pork tenderloin; and bourbon-scented chocolate bread pudding with dark cherry creme anglaise.

Let the eating, ah, ur, bidding begin!

Tickets to the event are $30 for PCA members, $50 for non-members (which includes a one-year PCA membership). Purchase tickets on-line at charlottesvillearts.org/rsvp/ or email for more information.
