Most wanted: Taybronne A. White is arrested May 8 in connection with a triple homicide after the bodies of Lisa Hwang, 26, Brian Lee Daniels, 26, and Dustin Tyler Knighton, 25, were discovered early May 3 on Octavia Road in Greene County. However, the charges, at presstime, stem only from warrants following an allegedly related home invasion that occurred about 40 minutes before discovery of the bodies.

Worst week for UVA Law School: Two students' dubious achievements are noted in local media. On May 5, Johnathan Perkins admits he fabricated a story about being racially harassed by UVA police. On May 6, Daniel Paul Watkins– who once reported that he was the victim of a racial incident– is arrested for assault and stalking stemming from an alleged February 13 incident.

Worst way to try to spark a romance: Felicia Armstrong, 51, of Mineral, pleads guilty to setting multiple fires at St. John Baptist Church in January after she's rebuffed by a firefighter who attends that church, the Newsplex reports. Armstrong faces up to 30 years in prison at her July 18 sentencing.

Worst low-speed accident: A five-year-old girl behind a backing up vehicle driven by a family member is seriously injured May 8 on private property in North Garden.

Worst skateboard/car encounter: That same evening, a 17-year-old boy stumbles off his skateboard into an oncoming vehicle on Celts Road in Greene County. He's airlifted to UVA Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition, the Newsplex reports.

Biggest advantage of Apple tracking its iPhone users: Two men are arrested for the May 3 theft of an iPhone from the UVA Aquatics and Fitness Center after the owner locates it in a dorm. The phone had been sold on Craigslist. Arrested are 19-year-olds Marcus Steppe of Charlottesville and Kenneth Welch of Louisa.

Saddest diploma awarding: Virginia Tech will present Morgan Harrington a posthumous degree at its May 14 graduation ceremony, according to the Newsplex. Her father, Dan Harrington, will accept the diploma for his daughter, who disappeared October 17, 2009, at a concert in Charlottesville. No arrests have been made in her death.

Leakiest: The Department of Environmental Quality charges Orange County Sanitary Landfill $7,665 for chemically tainted seepage and erosion. Tasha Kates has the story in the Progress.

Best sign of a brighter economic outlook, part 1: Albemarle's Board of Supervisors vote to give themselves a one percent pay raise May 4, upping their salaries by $145 to $14,687, WINA reports.

Best sign of a brighter economic outlook, part 2: The City of Charlottesville is hiring–- for the summer, at least. Dozens of positions are open for experienced lifeguards, recreation supervisors, and cashiers at city pools and parks. The city also has library, information technology, and social services jobs posted.

Best secret gift to UVA: Stephen Colbert and his wife, Evelyn McGee Colbert, a 1985 graduate of UVA, have contributed to a new Arts Scholars program in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. Fifteen to 20 incoming Arts Scholars will be selected each year and will be eligible for grants up to $3,000 to fund an art-related project between their third and fourth years. The amount of the Colberts' gift is undisclosed.

Best stage for a poetry reading: UVA's Rita Dove, a former U.S. poet laureate, is invited by the Obamas to the White House May 11 for an evening of poetry.

Closest race: A Washington Post poll shows former governors George Allen and Tim Kaine tied for Allen's old Senate seat with 46 points each more than a year out from the November 2012 election.

Most fashionable: About a dozen UVA students model for Glamour magazine's September issue, which was shot on UVA grounds, according to UVA Today.
