Blue Mountain Brewery: Kolsch 151 dubbed 'amazing'

Check it out! Our own Blue Mountain Brewery made the cover of the June issue of Food & Wine Magazine. BMB's Kolsch 151, their light German-style ale, is featured in the magazine's ‘Guide to Amazing Beers Across America.’

"It was a real surprise," says BMB's Taylor Smack. "They called us for a sample bottle a few months ago, but it was really cool the way they highlighted each state with a beer. And it was especially nice that Food and Wine went over and above and wrote a little blurb about our place in Afton, too."

Smack says he's proud to be representing Virginia's beer brewers, but he's especially excited that the Kolsch 151 was chosen, since the beer is named after Route 151, which he says is fast becoming the beer, wine and cider center of the East Coast.

Smack also mentions that BMB is scheduled to break ground on a new production brewery in Colleen in July, where they'll focus on their big beer lines (like Dark Hollow bourbon-barrel-aged stout), as well as Kolsch 151 and Full Nelson.

The restaurant/brewery in Afton is also expanding, as a major addition to the building will be open in September, which will allow them to turn the existing pub restaurant into an event facility for weddings and parties. Go, BMB!
