Leaders are everywhere

Your story, "Sticker shock: Rainbows rile parents" [News, October 23, 2003], quotes Bill "Biff" Rossberg, who objects to rainbow triangle stickers, as saying, "Western is riven with cliques: jocks, red-necks, preps, rich kids, poor kids, hunters, and leadership kids."

Excuse me, but in the 1950s I attended high schools in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Both high schools had the same cliques. The one exception was that "red-neck" in Virginia translated into "farmer" in Pennsylvania.

Speaking as a former teacher, I can assure Rossberg that all groups of students produce "leadership kids."
