Let UVA develop it

In regard to "UVA's campaign for Main" [cover story, June 3], I have a simple proposal.

The City takes the garages, truck rentals, and tire stores off West Main and moves them to more appropriate locations. Then it develops or sells the properties in ways that serve the City and its citizens. The City can sell bonds to finance the endeavor. Maybe UVA would buy the bonds. That would be urban renewal.

UVA's taking pieces of the City's main street off the tax-roll is not welcome news, but who can blame them for taking advantage of the neglect?
