No UVA docs at meeting

Thanks so much for your informative April 7 cover story. ["Generation Hg? Is Autism puzzle solved?"]

As of today, Sunday, April 24, no UVA physicians have registered for our conference, but we do have 170 physicians, parents, and other professionals registered from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Parents are routinely warned by physicians to stay away from the Internet and not pursue dietary interventions or waste our time or money on "alternative treatments," and yet these physicians do not educate themselves on the research that has been done to improve the lives of these severely disabled children.

We are willing to travel for medical treatment and scour Internet resources because we see results in the reduction of their medical symptoms with concurrent improvement in our children's behavioral and cognitive functioning.

The number of parents seeing their kids improving and recovering from autism is growing each day. Autism is treatable, and we aren't going away.
