A hound by any other name

The Calendar in the May 26 Hook advertised an Elizabethan Faire with "wenches and whippets."

I fear that your literary license led you astray. The pictured hounds appear to be greyhounds, not whippets. The whippet is a breed that is a cross of a greyhound and a terrier and is six to eight inches shorgter than a 'grey' (19" to 21" in height).

If these are truely whippets, they are, by far, a collection of the largest whippets in the state. While alliteration is a useful literary tool, accuracy is far more important.
