Keep it clean

A sidebar to our November 3 cover story, "Tattoo You: Locals show their ink" suggested that tattooing instruments could be sterilized by ultrasonic equipment or by autoclave. While instruments can be pre-cleaned by ultrasound, it's the autoclave that actually accomplishes the sterilization.
